SJV Structure

Management Board

The SJV Management Board maintains leadership, resources, and support to accomplish strategic organizational goals and objectives. The Board comprises binational representatives from each state in the SJV region. Members of the Board include representatives from federal and state agencies, corporations, and non-profit conservation organizations, as well as private citizens interested in the conservation of birds and their habitats within the boundaries of the SJV.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee provides the Management Board and SJV staff with expertise regarding biological planning, prioritization, monitoring, and evaluation for bird and habitat conservation. Membership is open to anyone, but particularly program or field biologists who represent an institution with an interest in bird conservation in the SJV region. The Technical Committee also has ad-hoc subcommittees which work on more narrowly defined issues as needed.

The Technical Committee is led by the SJV Science Coordinator, who sets the committee's agendas, reports findings to the Management Board, and represents the SJV on national and international committees, planning teams, and monitoring groups. The Committee strives to maintain equal binational representation from each state within the SJV region, from each bird conservation initiative, and from conservation-based agencies and NGOs in both the United States and Mexico. It serves as a forum of exchange of information on bird conservation, research, monitoring, education, and outreach.

SJV Communications, Education, and Outreach Committee

The SJV Communications, Education, and Outreach Committee (CEOC) works with the Education and Outreach Coordinator to guide the development and implementation of the SJV's communications, education, and outreach program. The primary responsibility of this ad-hoc group is to support the bird and habitat conservation goals and objectives of the SJV through strategic communications, education, and outreach projects, programs, and activities.
Committee members' diverse experiences, skills, and talents help ensure that the SJV meets the needs of its partners and others working toward bird conservation in the SJV region.

The CEOC is currently in the process of developing a strategic plan to help guide the SJV's efforts in this area. Contact Jennie Duberstein if you'd like to be involved in this process or would like to participate in the CEOC.
