Public Involvement and Education Program in the Gulf of California

Project Description

The objectives of this program are to (1) promote a regional approach to wetland conservation based on an education strategy implemented through elementary school teachers from coastal communities; (2) engage educators from five coastal states in Mexico in a public involvement and education program aimed at increasing participants’ understanding of and appreciation for wetlands; and (3) support wetland conservation projects in the Gulf of California, triggering the roles of teachers as community leaders. We will do this by printing 800 posters and 100 Teacher Wetland Guides focusing on wetland conservation in the Gulf of California. These educational materials are part of Pronatura’s Public Involvement in Education Program, which strives to involve communities in wetland education, conservation, and protection.
